Cyber Incident Tracer (CIT) #HEALTH: Tracking the Societal Impact of Cyberattacks on the Healthcare sector
The CyberPeace Institute believes that understanding the societal impact of cyberattacks on healthcare is the first key to ensuring accountability leading to a safe and stable cyberspace. We have taken an important practical step to bridge the current gap in our collective inability to fully understand the societal harm caused by cyberattacks on healthcare and the threat to this critical sector.
On 5 October 2021, the CyberPeace Institute will launch the Cyber Incident Tracer (CIT) #HEALTH, a platform visualising information on cyberattacks against the healthcare sector.
Join us for a panel discussion. We will discuss how to bridge the gap in the availability of information relating to cyberattacks on the healthcare sector and how evidence-led accountability is an important contribution to reduce cyberattacks on this critical sector. Panelists will focus on how and whether understanding the scale and scope of attacks can improve decision making and operational and diplomatic initiatives to protect the healthcare sector.
The event will take place on the Wednesday 6 October 2021 from 14:00-15:30 CEST.
The CIT #HEALTH platform represents the next step in the CyberPeace Institute’s commitment to protect healthcare against cyberattacks and irresponsible behavior, to increase visibility on the problem, and to ensure that appropriate actions and accountability mechanisms are put in place.
This project builds on our previous efforts such as the Call to Governments, launched in May 2020 with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to stop all cyberattacks on healthcare professionals, facilities, and organizations; and operationalizes the recommendation advanced in our thematic report “Playing with Lives: Cyberattacks on Healthcare are Attacks on People” to document attacks and analyze their human and societal impact.
